The landlord Armando Ortiz (325-669-2148) is allowing day-laborer squatters to sleep in the vacant business space next to Amax. He confirmed they will be living there for 3-4 months while they work on a project for him. They have been selling and using drugs in and around the premises, leaving drug bags/paraphernalia lying around. Police have been out before after a person high on drugs entered our store, was asked to leave, and assaulted our staff member. The police officer confirmed the space was full of people so high they didn't realize they were speaking to the police. The landlord was informed of this issue by the police, and by Amax, and has done nothing about it in the month since. Please escalate the code enforcement at this vacant location for the safety of our staff.

Traffic has increased on south 8th between Willis and Sunset due to south 7th being closed. I understand this is something that must be done but with this detour the issue of speeding has increased in our once low traffic neighborhood. We can deal with the temporary increase in traffic but we can’t tolerate the speeding and dangerous condition this speed brings. I have personally witnessed a speeder going around a school bus after being told to slow down. Instead of slowing, they increased their speed. In another incident I had told someone to slow down which in turn they slammed on their brakes, (the skid marks are in the picture I provided), took off again fast, then exited his vehicle at the end of the street and yelled at me “what the (F) you looking at?” I have called the street repair dept. about this issue and the did come put stop signs on Ballinger St. which has done nothing since the traffic is coming down south 8th. This has been reported to the police as well. I know they can’t place an officer there full time and I don’t expect them to due to more important issues they perform. What I am asking is that the intersection of south 8th and Ballinger be a temporary four way stop until this construction is over. There are kids that play in this neighborhood as well as a bus stop for school children. If there was a temporary four way stop it would cut down the distance that these bad actors would have to speed. I would appreciate your help in this matter before someone gets hurt.

Toilets are backed up again. I tried plunging one of them and it did absolutely nothing; made no difference.

The toilets are overflowing and there is feces outside of the restroom. Can we do a fundraiser and pay a plumber ?
