Longstanding water/sewer issue reported months ago to City of Homewood and Jefferson Co (sewer) still unresolved with subfreezing temps expected for several days next week. My husband has made repeated calls to the City of Homewood as well as Jefferson Co in the event it was related to the sewer system. Approximately two months ago a crew came out and went down on the manhole and spray painted multiple colors on the road to mark the utilities and we were optimistic that the issue would be repaired. At that time it was a small amount of water seeping up from the asphalt. Fast forward approximately two months later and no repairs have been made and the amount of water now present at all times is puddling. Numerous vehicles are parked curbside overnight on Roseland in this specific area and this is a major thoroughfare in Edgewood, especially school traffic to and from Edgewood Elementary. With subfreezing temps now expected overnight 1/15-1/17, this is going to be an issue. There have already been several mornings recently where I’ve lost traction backing out of our drive since this issue sits at the foot of our driveway, so I can only imagine with harsher temps projected in the 20s just how ice this stretch will be. Please help and prioritize this issue!
  • 517 Windsor Dr Homewood AL 35209, United States - Homewood
Is the owner of 517 Windsor allowed to park a car on a public road and place it for sale? There is no telling how long this piece of junk will be sitting on this major thoroughfare blocking this side of the street.
  • 211 Dale Ave Birmingham, Alabama, 35209 - Homewood
It looks like the Dale Avenue amwaste pickup days were changed from Tues/Fri to Monday/Thursday. Residents were not notified. The amwaste map revised does NOT show pickup days. I’ve tried to navigate that map to show my pickup days but have been unsuccessful. Dale trash needs to be picked up this Friday. The truck just went by but only 1 or 2 cans were left out. Please notify us asap of the changes! I don’t want Fridays garbage sitting out on Easter weekend. It just looks bad! If Dale Ave residents were notified of the change please resend the notice. I never got one! Not exactly a smooth transition!
  • 211 Dale Ave Homewood, AL, 35209, USA - Homewood
Is Dale Avenue still on the Tues and Fri pickup? AmWaste has not picked up any trash on Dale today! We were not notified if our schedule for Dale had changed. This isn’t a holiday week either-according to your schedule.

  • 200-220 Knoll Crest Dr Homewood, AL, 35209, USA - Homewood
Someone needs to have a long talk with some of the drivers of these garbage trucks. A truck came by around 7:30 pm at picked up bins one side of the street. He drove away and at precisely 7:37pm he came back around on the 200 block of Knoll Crest Drive and flew ridiculously fast down the street knowing he just saw several little children playing in the yard so close by and even a few adults in driveways. There were no more bins to pick up on our street, so he was obviously trying to just get through and leave the neighborhood!? We hardly ever even see passenger cars driving THAT dangerously fast down these streets filled with kids riding bikes, roller blading, people walking pets, etc. That truck is a beast and would have absolutely NO ability to brake/slow if something or someone were to be on the street. He drove away and we could hear the truck still revving trying to get through the neighborhood on the surrounding streets. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE to be driving a truck like a maniac through the neighborhood.
