The tree issue has not been addressed by anyone at the city to my knowledge, or at least they have not contacted us about it.
If you look closely at the bottom of the tree it has been gouged out at the bottom to fit within the grate and this may have been the last straw that killed the tree.
No action has been taken to resolve the problem and it is only a matter of time before another branch breaks and falls on someone's car.
The rotting tree has been removed and was cut off at the base leaving a large stump. We are very interested in speaking to any person at the city in charge of tree removal and replacement. Main street is a tree lined street and over the years some trees have been removed, but never replaced.
If anyone has knowledge of the appropriate contact at the city for street scape and tree maintenance, your help would be very much appreciated.
Contacted several people at the city including Richard Lyon who suggested we meet to take a look at the problem in July. Nothing has happened yet and we are awaiting a response. We'd like to see the stump removed and are more than willing to help pay for a new tree if necessary.

The tree was cut off over a year ago and I repeated sent emails to the city about removing the tree stump and replacing the tree, but I have received not response.
Richard Lyon at the city of Dallas suggested meeting to look at the tree, but I have had no success in getting anyone to take any action. Any suggestion from anyone who has dealt with htis issue would be appreciated
So much for our tree lined street. It's now been 2 years since the tree was cut down by the city and we've had absolutely no luck with the city in getting it replaced. I suppose It is a blessing in disguise since our architect Cal Young Jr. never like the tree and asked us to remove it in the first place for aesthetic reasons. He is now very happy.
We had hoped to replace it with a Ginko tree like the ones in our garden, but now I am resigned to let it go.
The issue was never resolved with the city of Dallas as to how to go about getting the tree replaced after the rotted tree was cut down to a stump. I spoke with several people, at city hall, but was unable to get the streets or parks department to come out to take a look at the dead tree stump, even though they offered to do so.
