The lake should be cleaned up and all the overgrown plants and dirt should be removed. This lake could be a nice place to boat around during the summer
I've known this issue for over 30 years and you're not the first to ask. Motorboats used to run in this lake but it is way too small and they only went in noisy smelly circles. Then only rowboats were allowed, but people would still bother home owners to launch from their property.
I believe Spotswood Township handled this as "Noise and Tresspassing" issue. By closing the lake it effectively solves these issues and also reduces visitors [swimmers] therby easing traffic. It's a win win decision.
What puzzles me is how they can then approve the developement of hundreds of new homes like Country Cub Drive [along Co Rd 613 Spotswood-Englishtown Road] and add more traffic to this bottleneck?
But that's another issue for discussion elswhere.
it's fine that they closed to boats, but come on, the lake is in need of repair. It has gone years between 'who is responsible' for the cleanup. There should be some type of agreement already; it could be a great place for families to walk to from the new park on Mundy Avenue and picnic.
When I was younger there were fireworks at the lake every 4th, fishing derbies... a small town feel that brought people together. It used to be a beautiful place. I hope they come to their senses and make it beautiful once more.
