This property is overseen by the Conservation Commission. It has been assigned to them for review and remedy.

The Conservation Commission has requested the DPW to work on this

Status Please ! Hope this is going to done before winter so it can be enjoyed by everyone including people with limited ability, walkers, wheel chairs ect.

I noticed yesterday that many of the low spots have been filled in with gravel, thank you.

There are still many spots that are nothing but mud. The area by the bench is water for days after every rain. The small area leading into the swamp that was filled in October is looking slippery again. Can a larger gravel be used? Maybe a larger gravel would slow the mud seeping through. Or maybe just use enough gravel to begin with.

We will talk to DPW again and try more gravel

Don't forget about this after the spring thaw and snow melts. I walked the paths this morning. In places where the stone dust is gone it is very muddy, places that still have stone dust are pretty dry. For 2 years or more I have asked to get this done !

I don’t know if anyone from the DPW ever walks the trails but there is a great way to see where more gravel is needed. I’ve noticed as I’ve walked on the grass along the sides of the paths that I’m not the only one avoiding the muddy spots by walking on the grass. They should put more gravel wherever the grass has been matted down by many feet. Most of the areas I’ve had issues with have never shown signs of being farmed, the dike and around behind the pond, the path from the boathouse, the path leading onto the boardwalk and the area in front of the bench in the photo above.

Is there any schedule for when trail maintenance will be done at Powers Farm?

I Conservation Commission has been in contact with Dpw and they will be beginning to do work the last week of May putting down gravel on the pathway

I haven’t noticed any new gravel yet. I walked the paths yesterday after the rain and the path leading to the boardwalk was a slippery mess. Could also use more gravel near the metal bench in the field.

As Conservation agent I have watched the DPW put down gravel. I will ask for more.

The area leading into the swamp at the beginning of the boardwalk is always slippery after a rain because it’s just mud. Same at the end of the boardwalk off of Grove St. Can they use a coarser grade of gravel that doesn’t wash away so easily.
