Description

We continue to see Taylor Street Park being inundated by 20-40 basketball players on a nightly basis..one neighbor witnessed a fight last night resulting in a person punching a car window. EVERY night the players arrive to block driveways, yell obscenities', and leave trash on the courts and near their cars before they leave. Most of the adjacent home owners close windows from April to the fall due to the constant yelling in the evening from the same group of basketball players. Why do we have overutilization of a small pocket park when other basketball courts (Deering oaks, for instance, with double the baskets) have less residential density and are under utilized? We regularly see 10-20 cars park on this street (blocking driveways, idling for hours) between 6-10 pm...on a street that already is crowded by tenant and owners seeking their own spots at night. Calling the non emergency police line which many of us have done has had no impact. Please consider how best to recalibrate a clearly disproportionate negative use of the basketball courts against the residential character and desires for a peaceful park by the residents and neighbors on the street.
