Drainage ditch in front of 8524 Arran Rd, Richmond VA 23235 is deteriorating, resulting in the slow continual collapse of the road as well as the loss of front yard. A significant amount of the front edge of my yard has drained downhill and is now located in my next door neighbors yard and we would like it back. I have complained to the city about this for 3 years. They (city) come out and cut away more of my property every year resulting in a dangerously deep ditch. We use to be able to walk across the ditch but not anymore. We requested last year a permanent resolution to this problem such as concrete or asphalt and was declined. Please respond, as our land plot is gradually decreasing but our property tax is not.

Erosion of ditch and road pavement causing drainage issues, was reported to City of Richmond. This is an annual issue which is written off as a maintenance issue every year. It was made worse in 2011 when the city used a bucket truck to remove leaves in the ditch. Every year when my drain backs up the city comes and re-cuts the ditch removing more and more of my property. Now a substantial amount of my front yard is now located downhill at my next door neighbors and we would like it back. The street as well as my front yard is collapsing as clay and gravel wash downhill. They planted grass and it didn't take. A year ago we requested a permanent fix such as concrete/asphalt but was declined. The city no longer does that., we were told. Please respond , as our land plot is continually decreasing but our property tax is not.
