Creating new request due to 10253494 being closed in error. Request to allow residents to track Traffic Calming Project request status
Original request: This is an extremely narrow road with lots of foot traffic, there’s barely enough room for two large vehicles to even pass, with no sidewalks, no streetlights, or even a place for pedestrians to simply step off the road when cars are coming since there are steep ditches and tall grass on both sides of the road (see attached); and when you add vehicles constantly speeding at near freeway speeds in a 25 zone (mostly from cut-through traffic from 108th), this is a tragedy waiting to happen. We simply need 2 -3 speed cushions to calm the constant speeding.
We also have disabled children who live on our street that require the use of motorized wheelchairs; there is literally no place they can go to get out of the way of all these reckless speeding drivers.

There is currently an active Residential Traffic Calming Program (RTCP) study underway for this street. Preliminary results of our initial analysis show that this street does qualify for traffic calming. Transportation staff will be in touch soon with more information.

Hi, There is currently an active Residential Traffic Calming Program (RTCP) study underway for this street. Preliminary results of our initial analysis show that this street does qualify for traffic calming. The next step will be conducting a follow-up study to confirm our findings and make sure that the speeds and volumes are similar. We have ordered this count from our technicians, and given their current backlog, they should be able to complete this in the next month or two. The missing speed limit sign on the west end of the street near 100 Ave SE will be replaced in the next few weeks.
The next step for the traffic calming request is a neighborhood meeting which will likely be conducted remotely over Zoom. There are several other neighborhoods in line ahead of yours, those other meetings will start being held next week. I hope that we can get to your neighborhood meeting before the end of the year, but I cannot guarantee it.

I apologize for the lack of updates on this request, we will remedy the situation. Here are some updates.
• We installed a Speed Limit sign on 224th last year on 11/18/2021.
• A neighborhood Zoom meeting was conducted on 1/25/2022. The residents requested speed bumps as far west as possible, which required us to measure the grade of the hill. Our rule of thumb is 8% maximum grade for vertical bumps.
• We later measured different parts of the hill and found that a bump could be placed as far west as the driveway for 10026.
• We are finalizing the concept layout for the whole street and will ask for buyoff from Fire and other departments over the holiday break.
• We hope to mail ballots to the neighborhood in January 2023 to vote on the traffic calming proposal.
