The traffic signal loop detector for traffic exiting Mayflower Street does not work for bicycles or motorcycles despite using best practices of aligning the rims with the edge of the loop. Doing so also places the driver of the bicycle or motorcycle in a more dangerous position relative to other traffic. There are more advanced designs for such traffic detection loops which should be utilized like the quadrupole and diagonal quadrupole. The roadway should be marked for bicycle users and best wheel positioning for activation. This is a failure of statutory complete street designs and accommodations.
