That's fine. It was hard to find where to get help for this. Who do I write to about this ongoing issue with our street being neglected whenever there is a snow storm. I realize we are not on a highly populated street but the snow removal service has been inconsistent and very poor compared to our neighbors.
Primary roads are always the first to be treated and/or plowed. Then we concentrate on secondary roadways, and following that effort are the tertiary roadways. The courts, ways, lanes, etc. can take several days to get cleared if we have a significant event and/or cold temperatures creating more ice. It all depends on the start of the storm and conditions, to name a few things. If you would like to discuss the snow removal efforts in more detail on Blounts Lane, please do not hesitate to call this office at 410-313-7450 or you may email us at highways@howardcountymd.gov.
As always, we appreciate your patience through the inclement weather and in our clean up efforts. Our hours of normal operations are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thank you for contacting the Howard County DPW Bureau of Highways. This issue is now closed in Tell HoCo. If you require more information, please contact Department of Public Works Highways office 410-313-7450.
Thanks for the response and I completely understand the priorities in snow removal and have always tried to be patient with the counties service. However, the response time for our court during the last several snow storms has been markedly slower. Blounts Lane is a very steep court that is dangerous if not treated or plowed. I see a small plow truck came by a few moments ago. However, the warming temps and the sun finally improved the conditions by the time the plow came by, so there wasn't much to plow. In this circumstance, it appears that our court was missed. It is hard to tell as I was unable to locate a Plow Tracker online. Has that feature been deactivated?
The feature is not deactivated but possibly there was a glitch or computer issue that I was not aware of. Thank you for the response and details. The supervisor will note this and make sure it's followed up on.
