Pictures of the problem are supposed to help. And Hampton 311 used to take action on these things, but has been rather silent lately.

These reports go out to approximately 13 different people and one would wonder if anyone has physically been on site to investigate. Dominion would have been notified and it would have been placed on their schedule long ago. There is another pole right next to this one that is in the same condition.

The power/light/utility poles are the private property of Dominion Power. They are not property of the tax payer thus also not the property of the city. The city does not repair them, nor provide any maintenance to them. It is the responsibility of Dominion Power to do such. Perhaps best not to cite the problem here, but with Dominion Power.

The poles are located on City right-of-way. The City should notify Dominion of the problem.

There was a city worker whom once did report utility pole problems, but he has left the city work force.
With the downsizing of PW work force to save schools,police and fire jobs; that responsibility has been shifted to someone else or to a general concerns file in PW. This is not the medium to get this problem solved. The individual citizen will find that quicker action will probably occur if the citizen reports the problem to Dominion Va. Power rather than expect a rapid response from this venue or the 311 call center. If you report it to 311 call center in Hampton You are best advised to tell the girls that the concern is to be directed to PW;as the girls are clueless in this type of matter.

Well, seems someone has cut the pole off in half. This looks terrible. The whole pole needs to be removed. Someone needs to get on the ball and do the job correctly.

The pole has been repaired in a manner the owner(Dominion Power) sees fit to do such while meeting safety standarts. Esthetics are not a mandatory requirement.Customers of Dominion Power,Cox Cable etc pay a fee attached to their bills for maintenance of theses poles and lines to your dwelling for service to be delivered. This includes the roadways to get the power to the specific poles which attach to the pole that links your site to the power source...thus you pay to cover all means of service delivery. The pole is also private property of Dominion Power whom rents space/rights to other service providers to attach to Dominions Poles. They are not a city taxpayers pole,thus not the city to repair or monitor.As a customer dissatisfyed with the repair job Dominion did the customer should pick up the phone and call Dominion power. The job is done close this blog and express your concerns with the property owner...Dominion Power. After all you are paying for the maintenance every month.

Do not close this blog. The city may only check these blogs once a month or less. Just keep it open and update us weekly on the progress

Please keep in mind this is a third party site that is not monitored by the City. If you don't want them fixed report them on this site. If you want it fixed report it to 311 get a work order number and then maybe it can be tracked on this site. Please remember to close things that you open since no one else is closing them for you. You also might want to report to Dominion directly with a work order. I have seen things take months to fix.
