Description
Thank you to the City of Meriden, the utility workers from West Virginia, CL&P and Cox Cable for all their hard work taking away the two down trees and replacing the live electrical wire that came down and literally melted the roadway on Prospect. I applaud you all and understand that areas with hospitals, nursing homes and businesses took priority. GREAT JOB!!!!

Yes, great job but where is the help for individual citizens. Even though we pay real estate and personal property taxes the City of Meriden offers no help in discarding limbs/brush from downed trees in our yards. Taxpayers have no services when needed. Obviously our tax dollars are not used for yearly maintenance on things like roads, keeping storm drains clear (lazy citizens won't even do this). We have no large item pickup; not even a designated month for large item pickup like so many other Cities and Towns offer, for free!
Please publish a full accounting in accord wiht the Freedom of INformation Act as to exactly where our money is going. Pockets of elected officials or venders? All to the schools so vain parents can proclaim their children go to such such school, much better and high tech? Pahlease I would love to know

Ahhhh but do they offer the availability of invoices showing what costs were incurred for each and every part needed, say, with the newest upgrading to the water department issue that caused yet another hike in our rates? I'd be interested in proof that the upgrade done was indeed necessary and was not caused by the lack of maintenance due to lack of funds for other services the Citizens of Meriden have no direct benefit.
I can not believe in order to add additional life to the roadways by applying crack filler on a yearly basis would result in approx 1 mil a year. Can save money on mainentance by not sending out the slow paced standing around workers. How many workers need to stand around doing nothing until its their turn to provide their expertise in any given repair. They can be out cleaning storm drains instead of waiting around till its time for their part of any project. Paid to stand idle doing isn't very good as far as management of funds

Mark, you're pretty much a bully placing the same post on other posts that differ with your opinion. I was the initial poster of this issue. I totally knew thanks had to be given for all the help in restoring power. I am happy to have been allowed this forum to show praise instead of negativity. I'll be closing this issue as soon as I get that email reminder. Life is not all about negativity
If you really want to get invovled, research what it takes to do a petition, in writing, report your concerns to other governing officials, outside of Meriden. Continual posting on non official forums does not solve issues of great concern.
Remember, this forum to report issues is on a newspapers website. It simply serves as a way to come up with other news articles they can investigate, in other words, we're giving them tips so they can investigated, report, and take the credit.

Just want the webmaster of this site to know that I am unable to close this issue using the ""change status" close" option. I am the original person who posted.
Thanks has been posted, enough time has passed for others to post replies praising those invovled in gteting out utilities back but now that someone is going post to post stating "this issue remains active but ......" one other specific post has been removed.......I want to protect the integrity of my positive original post
The administrator can now close this issue since I am unable to due to techical issues.

Sad when one individual poster would go post to post whining about what issues remain and what do not.
That individual make this positive post into something ugly posting a negative post. For that reason, I closed this post; however, how is it that we can still type replies....
