Thanks - how do i know if its university controlled or town controlled? Is there a way to open up the "permit" parking to allow for daily spots, since the daily is always filled but permit spots are generally open?

As was stated in my earlier response, certain portions of the commuter lot fall under the Municipality of Princeton's jurisdiction while other portions fall under the Princeton University Department of Public Safety's / Transportation and Parking Service's jurisdiction. The areas that fall under the Municipality of Princeton's jurisdiction, and are thus monitored and enforced by the Princeton PD's Parking Enforcement Officer Staff, are marked by both retroreflective green and white signs as well as purple and white parking signs (The green and white signs denote where metered parking is governed and the purple and white signs denote where parking is allowed via paying at a designated pay station, both signs have a large 'P' inside of a slightly larger circle on them). The remaining signs, which consist of both black rectangular signs w/ white lettering which states 'Permit Parking' and older white signs stating 'Dinky Permit Parking', denote areas which currently fall under the control of Princeton University and thus are not governed nor enforced by the Princeton Police Department. In short, the areas which refer to the allowance of 'Permit Parking' fall under Princeton University's control.
