Description

Water Hemlock (Cicuta maculata) growing at the indicated spot (west end of Foxfire North park near sidewalk). This is by far the most poisonous native plant in Michigan (WAY more deadly than Poison Hemlock). Its juices contain a neurotoxin that can be absorbed through the skin or mouth or airway and produces seizures in very small doses. A nibble is all it takes; you don't even need to swallow. Spreads by seeds rapidly. It's in flower now, so it would be wise to get it before it sets seed. USE CAUTION WHEN REMOVING THIS PLANT. Read up on this... do NOT send out an untrained crew!
