Thank you for your e-mail advising of your concerns with the cracks in the cement & sidewalk near San Marino Village. We forwarded your e-mail to Project Engineer Laura Borgesi at the City's Department of Public Services for her information and response. Ms. Borgesi advised the following: "The San Marino Village Homeowner's Association has entered into a 50/50 Agreement with the City of Hollywood to repair any broken, raised or cracked sidewalks at 1200 Johnson Court. To date, some of the sidewalk sections not within the driveway apron have been completed. The gutter repair, however, is not included in the agreement with the HOA. I did offer to have my sidewalk contractor repair the gutter and the HOA declined my offer and elected to try and patch the gutter on their own. The sidewalk that is damaged at the entrance and exit gate (where the gutter is damaged) is scheduled for repair early next week, therefore if the HOA wishes to modify their agreement to include the gutter repair, they will need to do so as soon as possible." Johnson Street was long in existence before San Marino Village was built. The needed repair of the gutter is at the intersection of N.12th Terrace and Johnson St. This is not within the confines of San Marino Village. At any other crossroads in the city where such a repair was needed, certainly the four homeowners living at a corner would not be asked to fund such a repair. (Isn't this what taxes are for?) To lump the 50/50 sidewalk repair and the gutter repair together is ludicrous. This problem is at a city intersection and the City of Hollywood needs to fix it as it would fix any other street intersection, for the good of all Hollywood residents who may find themselves endangered by this neglect.

Certainly the homes on each corner of such an intersection would not be responsible for such a repair, so why are the residents of San Marino being asked to share the cost of a repair of such an intersection?
