Seconded a second time as this is still the case.

Almost a year later the same issue exists. If a small child or an adult falls thru the railing. It will be issue similar to the tragedy at the JFK/UMASS Boston T station. All agencies involved will point the finger at another agency. At least put up plastic snow fencing zip tied to current posts. Thank you

WhileWhile I think that it is unlikely that someone will fall off of the bridge, I also think that Just Helping Out's idea of adding snow fencing is a good one.

The crumbling railing of this bridge poses a hazard to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. The rust could cut passersby, anyone walking could fall right through due to lacking sections of railing (not that they would do much anyway, as they are brittle as sawdust because they are completely rusted through), and a vehicle crash at this intersection could easily send a vehicle over the bridge into the River. Given the number of years that this bridge has been in disrepair, and the number of less urgent street projects taking place, why hasn't this been addressed?

Possibly because they are easier to do—physically and financially.

This railing has yet to heal itself.
It would be nice to have an acknowledgement of the problem.

Unfortunately, it can take a long time for reported problems to be fixed. In this case I'm sure that it does not help at all that this is likely, given that it is part of a bridge, a large job.

Streetlights in particular, and those (I assume) require much less physical effort than the railing in question. E.g.: https://seeclickfix.com/issues/5022208, which took two years.
