Description
Tractor Trailers are coming into the Amazon Same Day delivery facility in the evening on SUNDAYS. Air brakes, backup warning sounds are at a much higher level than what the town agreed on. There have also been employees walking around the backside of the facility where they pickup their merchandise and wandering onto private property at late hours of the night. This was not agreed upon by the town and restrictions were put into place for specific times and numbers of deliveries from tractor trailers. Please review the agreement and adhere to what was agreed upon originally.

Mr. Barz, what type of review did you undertake of the contract? Can you tell me if you spoke to someone at the Amazon facility? Met with any site managers in regards to delivery trucks coming in on late nights on weekends? Were you able to speak to someone about what type of backup safety audio (devises) are being used on the delivery trucks? I believe there was some new special type of “low audio tone” system on trailers when backing up to the loading bays that decreases the high pitched beep sound while still maintaining a threshold of safety or replaces it with a more acceptable tone. Obviously at night this can be a distraction for those sleeping with windows open during the warm months. I would also like to know if the employee parking area can redirect one of their tall light fixtures so that bright light doesn’t shine NE towards the back area of the units on 9-31 Last Leaf Circle? Maybe a shield on the lamp glass can be installed to dampen light coming into our area (the backside of the units have their bedrooms there on the second floor.)
These are the concerns Eric.
Thank you,
Glenn Brand

Glenn,
The facility is in compliance with their site plan and special use permit for trucking. They built a high noise wall around their truck court, and an eight-foot wall along the rear of the facility to screen as much noise as possible. They also screened their rooftop mechanical units.
The broad spectrum backup alarms that you mentioned are not standard on over the road trucks. We require them for yard tractors that shuttle trailers around large warehouse facilities, as we have control over those site-specific vehicles, but we have no control over alarms on trucks visiting these sites.
Based on the sound study done for this project, the measures we approved should have significantly cut down on the noise to what are known as background levels. At night, those levels are very low and even the faint beeping can be heard. despite being at that same level.
We will check on the light glare and see if they can do anything to address them.

Eric, I trust that you will follow through with the light post deflection by speaking with whomever is in charge at the faculty. Also, with Fall coming soon, the leaves will be off the trees that border the property and sounds will be “less buffered” due to loss of foliage. If you can stay on top of the light glare issue and stay connected as needed, communication-wise with the facility manager, that would be great. It also helps that you are the compliance agency that over-sees the company’s violations. Can I ask how often you meet with the Amazon facility manager to keep checks on compliance? We here in Walden Woods, especially Last Leaf Circle, Jacobi Way and Rhodora Terrance are certainly willing to keep the lines of communication open so both parties can exist in our neighborhood.
Thank you,
