They need to use that space for a home depot instead. The Walmart in Eastlake isn't even old.

I personally am looking forward to the new Walmart. I am not looking forward to the increased traffic congestion on Vine St. (it's bad already) You think this new Walmart isnt going to bring in more undesireables to the community you are wrong. Call Eastlake Police and ask them if the crime rate, and shoplifting spree isnt on an increase over there. Oh, and who, locally, actually is brave enough to shop there late at night?

Check all products before you pay for them. I hear certain unethical shoppers/stealers remove product from package and place box back on shelf. The Biore pore strips i recently bought for $6.00 had been tampered with. Someone stole the product and replaced it with band aides. A sales associate in H&B told me recently, they have seen jars of vaseline opened and handfuls scooped out (the shoplifter swipes the stuff off into a baggie in their purse) they also have seen empty baby powder packages placed back on the shelf. (they shake the contents in a zip lock bag and place in their purse) There are many times I have seen empty packages discarded. Buyer beware! And, Mr. Garrison, it isn't that Walmart sucks, it is more like some of the Walmart people who shop/steal that suck.

supposedly they are ten parking spaces short of what is needed for a super walmart of that size. they are trying to get charter one bank to move. I shop there late at night all the time. no problems.

Do you have a clue how many jobs are taken away in the area, and how many small business close doors so that all this imported Chinese garbage can be sold by Walmart? If you had a clue how much our economy was getting damaged by Walmart you would BOYCOT the store!

You know that label that you see less and less these days? The "Made in America" with the flag? You do? Well Sam--the guy who started Wal-Mart--helped DESIGN and put that onto packages that he put in his stores.

Now his kids run the show, and they are TERRIBLE at it due to all the bickering they do on what they think the American people want.

Sorry about the local buisnesses, but that's sadly the state of things. Maybe if local buisnesses offered more SERVICE than Wal-mart, people would shop there. But I can't tell you how many times I go into local stores run by people who can't even speak the native language of the country they are working in... Why pay more for the same level of service?

@Not happy with our economy: I don't think anyone is happy with the economy, but it isn't Walmarts fault. I have lived in Eastlake for 20+ years. There are a few small businesses on Vine St. that Walmart can't compete with. Can I go to Walmart and get my hair cut? Buy fresh made doughnuts/pizza? Get my shoes re-soled? Practice shooting my gun there? (wait, dont answer that one, may come to that some day) Buy fresh butcher meats? I have shopped/frequented at every small business I posted, as well as others. I do shop at walmart, you point me in the direction of a store that sells 100% Made in America within my driving range and maybe ...maybe I'd shop there. If i can buy a can of Campbells chicken noodle soup for 60 cents @ Walmart than spend a $1.00 a can at a Mom and Pop store..Im going where I can get more bang for my buck.

You'll be singing a different tune about your new Walmart that you 'need, want' so badly. Just wait....that new Walmart is going to bring in all sorts of undesireables to the area. The existing one is proof enough. You don't think these peeps aren't going to be 'casing' nearby communities for easy crime targets as they drive down Vine St? LOL! I agree with Lynne. That Walmart in Eatslake is new....and xraylissa they were supposed to build a new walmart in Diamond Center and then decided to remodel the existing one. Needless to say I go to the one in Chardon but it would have been nice to have one 5 minutes down the road instead of having to deal with all the traffic on Heisley. And guess what they are going to be doing construction on Heisley after Jackson to widen the lane so that will be a pain in the a**.

Walmart has been very deligent in getting all the items finished that are incvolved in this process. The City of Eastlake approved all the plans in the spring and Walmart has been working since to secure needed easements from the Valu King shopping center.They also had to purchse additional parking from Charter One Bank . Walmart will build when Walmart is done witha ll of their details. Tthe City just met with Walmart last week to approve a few changes in their plans and they assured the city that they want to also start construction as soon as possible.

The Eastlake Walmart is like stepping into a time/space vortex That drops you off in Euclid. Can't even step into that store without being panhandled for the inner city battered women shelter collection.

Wow! Theyre tearing down this Walmart again? This will be the 3rd new store for this Eastlake Walmart in less than 20 years!! Hope they finally get it right this time! Eastlake police better get some extra cops on their force, theyre gonna need it! More traffic, more shoplifting, more residential thefts are going to be on the rise!

Please get your facts straight. Walmart IS NOT tearing down the existing Walmart. They are moving to and tearing down the old KMART building.The end result is a nice upgrade to that area of Vine Street. Since Walmart owns the existing Walmart building there also is a good possibilty that a new tenant will take over that building resulting in another business for eastlake.

Regardless a Home Depot would be AWESOME in the area. Walmart/Super Walmart isn't really needed as there already is one, the current one. Whether they tear down on building or not, one of the larger buildings needs to be occupied..

Here`s an idea....Build the New Wal Mart underground..put a nice Wal Mart sponsered park on top....They have lotsa moola ,they can do it...and a lot of people would like Wal Mart better for it.

Mayor Ted, Sheesh! Thanks SO much for clarifying that Walmart is NOT tearing down the existing building. But, they are moving AGAIN..like the previous poster said. With the original Walmart building not being torn down, you say "there also is a good POSSIBILITY that a new tenant will take over that building..." Well here's hoping the new Walmart does reflect your vision of "the end result is a nice upgrade to that area of Vine Street." Lord knows that area needs upgrading..ie: empty Walgreens, empty Blockbuster, oh and a soon to be empty Sears hardware, now add to that area an old Walmart building sitting there, until a new tenant takes over. Yeah, can't wait to see the the "nice upgrade" that new Walmart brings to that area.

LOL @ Mayor Teds comment about the new walmart being a nice upgrade to that area. That area needs more than a new walmart to improve it. Vine St from Waverly to Rte 91 is a mess. Walmart is about the only business that attracts people to that area. People from the west side are only coming here to hit up walmart and that valu king store. Dont think the pawn shop, rent a center, a few dollar stores, and a cheap diner or two are the big attractions for eastlake.

Drug Mart saves you the runaround.

Drug Mart seems to be the only "constant" in that area. Its been there since the 70's. and it still has customers coming in droves..huh, and only a simple drive thru pharmacy up grade in all those years. Owner has got to making a mint. the one poster has it right. empty stores everywhere in that area. and whats left there? shoestore. dollar stores and a handful of beauty shops. Oh and that supermarket. rofl..yeah nice upgrades to that area. want a nice upgrade? and brings in decent customers..throw in a Lowes home depot kohls etc..eastlake dont need another Big lots, or uncle marty type store.

anyone hit up walmart tonight? (halloween) that place was a joke! crying kids all jacked up on halloween candy, kids running rampant, no parent in sight. this is at 11 at night..dont kids go to school tomorrow? people (and yeah i'll say it, they didnt look like they were locals) shopping like an apocalypse was coming. then it dawned on me. end of the month..time to build up the free govt food/stash. unfortunately i dont have much a choice to shop there at other times. i work 2nd shift. but believe me I felt very..very uncomfortable up there tonight. shakes my head..will avoid walmart around the first of the month in the future.

The only thing a bigger Walmart is going to for Eastlake is bring more people out from the "hood". Just what we need--more crime, more drug deals. Ever sit in the parking at Walmart and watch the drug deals going on??? "Humm, Eastlake, nice place, nice Walmart, maybe we should move into Eastlake to be closer." Yep, just what we need!!! LOL..that Walmart is going to be the worst thing for that city. The current one already is trouble. eastlake better have more po-po on hand...theyre gonna need it..and residents better arm your self..your gonna need it. Eastlake the new Euclid...

The mayor of Eastlake stated publicly this past week that demolition of the old K-mart building will begin in April, and construction of the new Super Wal-Mart will begin shortly thereafter.
