Description

This issue has been going on for over 20 years and the Newark Police 3rd Precinct refuse to do anything about it....still.
A network of friends get together and play loud music, often at concert levels, at night. They take the speakers of their competition level car audio systems out of the car and place them on top of the car. And blast the music. I live in Jersey City. We can hear the music over hear. And in Bayonne, and in Kearny, and of course Newark. Literally many many thousands of people within listening distance of this.
They moved to this new spot. Ave P had trucks parking where they would park their cars in the past. They went to Port Newark for a few months. But once the Port Authority Police were alerted, they managed to do what the 3rd precinct hasn't been able to do in over 20 years. Get them to stop and not go back.
This time I followed the music, from Jersey City, through Kearny and Newark to the location I marked.
I then called the 3rd precinct. Asked to talk to a supervisor to try to convince them to actually do something besides just let them leave. Person who answered the phone wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor. I pleaded with them, explained how thousands of people are affected, 20+ years etc.
She actually said "the police can't do anything except ask them to turn it down". I said no, it violates both state and local noise disturbance laws. They can give them a ticket at least. Probably violating other things but I thought that one was pretty obvious, especially for a cop. She just repeated the same thing. Pleaded to talk to a supervisor. She said they would just say the same thing. I asked to please let me talk to them and let them tell me themself. Silence for a while. Footsteps heard coming back to the phone. Then just hung up on me.
Can someone please find anyone competent in all of Newark who can address this issue? Countless hours are wasted with 3rd precinct police having to go to these people over and over again. I stopped keeping track after the 50th time I reported the issue.
Can anyone understand that many people can't sleep with the bass from their music playing all night? Or just be able to be home without having to listen to that over the tv and anything else they have going on? This time they started early, between 10 and 11pm. Usually they start after midnight.
