THANK YOU to all the volunteer fire fighters in Delaware County! Thank you for taking your personal time to educate yourselves about proper firefighting techniques and thank you for taking the time away from your families, your wives and your children to ensure that you are trained and on alert to answer the call should a fire break out anywhere in the county. Thank you for being ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Thank you for maintaining the equipment at your individual firehouses. Thank you for being aware that fires don't always break out at convenient times, so it isn't always a convenient time for you to maintain and check the trucks, sirens. Thank you, too, for being considerate of your neighbors with small children and not making unnecessary noise late at night. Thank you for spending your time at the firehouse "bonding with your brothers" so you can all work together like a well-oiled machine while working to save the home or business in your area. THANK YOU, volunteer fire fighters for your dedication, sacrifice, and service.

5 PM? really? That's pretty extreme. MOST volunteers are just getting done work around that time. So, in order to make sure the equipment is safe and in working condition they have to "play" with it. So, unless you would prefer that their equipment isn't in working condition keep making ridiculous suggestions. 5 PM is a joke. 9 is more like a good time. They have to check their equipment AT LEAST once a week. BE grateful for their services. They take time out of THEIR lives like the women before me stated. They have jobs, mothers, fathers, wives, or children and they take THEIR free time and do their best to take care of people in their community like yourself.

there should be a regional fire company for the entire county to get the best you have to pay for them it may cost these towns a buck or three but the era of volunteers has to come to an end and get these misfits out of these fire houses

If that is the case, if your house catches fire after 5:00pm, put it out yourself. Don't call them, as they may disturb some idiots like you to protect the town, and people's lives, houses, and businesses?

Hope your house doesn't burn down! Will they be "playing" then?? Stop whining or move!

First of all i believe the "volunteers" do work durning the day so im sure that anything that needs to be done has to be taken care of when they return home from work. Anytime i have seen them out with the trucks it has not been very late; and im sure on occassion when they are there is a reason. We should be thankful for our volunteers.We are lucky that the township hasn't created a career fire department which would make our taxes go up and i know we wouldn't want that would we!

Dear Mr. Richard. Obviously you have had a negative run in with a volunteer? or, you were a volunteer and left because of something which happened at your place. First, i am NOT a volunteer, just someone who actually recognizes people who deserve it. Also, those that don't have jobs are usually juniors (under 18) But that's right, i assume you knew that. Really? HOW DARE you mock them, just like all people that live in a certain neighborhood aren't bad, maybe some volunteers you have heard of may be but don't lump them together. You should probably wake up to reality. Get a grip, all volunteers aren't scum bags.

So no noise after 5pm? Get real bet you hope they make lots of noise if they are coming to save your butt from your house on fire right? As for Richard your a complete low life who doesn't know anything. Don't bash Volunteers..what good have you ever done for anyone? Just so you know just because firefighters are paid doesn't mean they do a better job..in fact I live in a town where they are paid and you can tell their there for their job and that's that...volunteers are obviously not there for the money they are there for the people. Think before you write stuff you know nothing about.

Maybe if any of you that are complaining would take a few minutes and walk over to the firehouse and talk to the members who are there you would understand what they are actually doing. I think you would find that they are not playing at all and that some type of preventive maintenance or repair work is occurring. In fact they may actually be performing some type of training, which usually will occur on a Tuesday night. Maybe your complaint was in reference to the fire prevention open house that occurs each year? In any event, before you continue to mock and complain, take a walk and say hello - you may actually even make a friend.

...and another thing, you should be happy that they cared enough to shut the fire alert siren off between the hours of 8 pm and 8 am -and they don't allow it to cycle completely on Tuesday nights when the county performs the dispatch test at 7 PM.

This is from the Chief; If your so concern about the noise etc, then why dont you come down the street and join the fire company. If you join you will then see what we are doing and the reason for it. Just so you know we have the siren turned off at 9PM until 6 Am so it will not creat any problems for the neighbors, most of all the children sleeping. All of us work durning the day, so Tuesday nite is the drill night and on that night we check all the equipment to make sure its working if we need it at a fire, as for us blowing the siren, if you listen on Tuesday nights you will see that we try to turn it off as soon as it goes off. We are all dedicated members here, Iam not sure how long you have lived on Sutton Ave, but I will tell you this, Folsom FIre Company has been here on Sutton ave for over 100 years and we are not going any where soon. So stop crying, if you want to help come down on Tuesday night and join us and see how dedicated these men and ladies are who are members. Chief Joe Carollo

Funny didnt anyone notice when they were buying thier house that there was a firehouse nearby?? Hello!!! That should tell you something about noise and sirens and lights!!! If you dont like it move you have every right to pick up the phone and call a realitor!!!!

Good job guys keep protecting the community there are alot of people I care about in that area dont let people like the above discourage you from saving lives and property!!!

Are you kidding?? It is a volunteer organization. They are volunteers. Most have jobs during the day so these things have to be done in the evening. The noise ordinance is 10pm in Ridley Twp.
