Update from Parks & Recreation Administration: Thank you for your suggestion. We are aware of the issues related to having lidless trash receptacles, and with thousands of them throughout the City, both in and out of our parks, we are doing our best to try different, economical solutions. Retrofitting the existing cans with lids is an option being investigated. Until an adequate solution can be found, we are advising maintenance staff to try to weight empty bags (with a bottle, for example) in an effort to minimize the effect of the wind blowing lighter items out of the cans. This is certainly an issue that we are working toward addressing with a long-term solution as soon as possible. Thank you again for taking the time to post your comment.
