Description
Not sure why this continues to happen but why is this group still allowed to sleep outside and harass us innocent bystanders. We have LifeBridge set up for a reason for the safety of those in need. It's really unsettling to have to worry about walking home being accosted by this unfriendly group of people living on the street. Can we make it mandatory to have them sleep at lifebridge? Homelessness is a very delicate issue, we know but everyone safety is at risk with this.
those of us that pay big money to live in Salem should not feel like they are being failed by the city to do anything about it.
I don't want to continue to worry about my safety trying to walk home.
Please let's find a better place to house those in need so they get proper care and help.

City of Salem Neighbor,
I appreciate that you are frustrated by this situation. Homelessness is not illegal in the Commonwealth. As this is not private property and no trespassing situation is occurring there is no criminal aspect to this. Lifebridge is a voluntary resource and requires the person needing assistance to want it. These particular parties have been offered services for years and refuse them for their own reasons. I would be more than willing to speak with you personally about this situation and what we have done to assist these persons. Please fell free to contact me via email to arraign this.
