Description

Why have the corner sidewalks (all four) at the intersection of Shaver and Third Streets been widened so drastically? On all four corners the sidewalks now just out 1.5-2 feet beyond the normal sidewalk width. It's causing dangerous driving conditions as it narrows the entrance to an already narrow street (Shaver) causing vehicles to narrowly avoid each other. Additionally, you used to be able to pull to right and slow down out of traffic when turning right from Third onto Shaver to savely move out of speeding traffic before making a sharp turn, which can no longer be done due to the sidewalk jutting into the street. It causes you to go from 35-40mph to almost 0 on a busy street to turn right now.

What is the reason for this change? If it's not necessary, I'd petition for the corner sidewalks to please be returned to a normal size. Thank you.
