Description
My house was built in 1956 and contains a drainage easement and gets the majority of the runoff from the houses on my street and the circle. I bought the house in 2021 and have noticed lots of drainage issues. There was a power line pole that was replaced March of 2022 and it is leaning badly from the waterlogged soil (picture attached). It was straight when they first installed it. A contractor reviewed my property and advised me to reach out to the county as he said there are numerous underground springs and sinkholes from the failed drainage system. He said he can tell the underground pipes have collapsed and pointed out the depressions in the ground on both sides of my property. He said I get the entire water runoff from all the houses up to and around the circle and with the collapsed and outdated drainage system, it will get worse. When it rains, I get streams across my driveway and front yard that takes days to dry. In the winter that water ices over near the circle where students are waiting for the bus and the mailbox. It has affected my entire lawn such that around my house it is always very muddy with lots of standing water and is unusable unless there are long periods without rain. This is an issue for me and my entire community. I am looking for guidance on what my options are. Thank you in advance.
