I've been informed that because the city wants to treat this area as a minimum detention area for the whole city, that what happens here, stays here. They'd rather keep the illegal activities here than have them spread to the rest of the city. Nice way to run a city and police department. Government by blind eye. Guess they just lost my support.

The good people in this n'hood have had their community used as a minimum security prison for 40+ years. Complaints to city officials fall on ears deafened by developers seeking to continually expand the footprint of ABQ rather than reinvest in older n'hoods. Residents refuse to make themselves heard by not voting to remove the bums. That's why you have a Metro Court that is a revolving door right back to your n'hood. That's why you have a Mayor that thinks Central Ave. can be fixed by putting up more neon signs. How can we effect change on a system that has been in play for so long. Do the math. Metro Court judges retain their seats with 51% a maximum of 8,000 votes city wide. Most people don't bother to even vote that side of a ballot. 4,000 "Do Not Retain" votes all the way down the ballot would boot them all out and Metro Court would be appointed for one term to be elected for any additional term. I suspect they may just get the idea that your n'hood shouldn't be used as their MINIMUM SECURITY PRISON.
Same goes for the next Mayoral election. You'd best actively support a candidate from your own neck of the woods instead of someone who couldn't give a rats as whether you're n'hood falls off the face of the earth, there will be one.
OR; you can stay at home and not vote in the next election and continue to ask why someone else doesn't do something about this. That's the way it's been done for the past 40 years. How's that working so far?

So they've referred the problem to Southwest Area Command and closed the issue. How very appropriate for an issue in SE ABQ. We'll obviously need to clean out City Hall next October before we can continue cleaning out these n'hoods. Patience & persistence will get it done and vote for Pete Dinelli for mayor.
