Description

Over the past 3 years, there have been two accidents in which cars have run into homes, both on Montgomery St and very close to one another. I have complained year after year that lower Montgomery St where it intersects Cross St needed more police presence as cars are traveling extremely fast in both directions constantly. I often see cars traveling in part of the opposite lane because they are coming so fast and trying to make the corner where the convenience store is. This continues to pose a threat to the citizens that reside in the homes near by. To add to that, Cross St is just as bad. With the people that live up in the apartments towards the end of Cross St. They are constantly flying up and down this street. I have complained about this over and over again and said that speed bumps needed to be put up on Cross St to slow these people down, but nothing happens. I seldom see police monitoring this area or street. It's only going to be a matter of time before one of these cars traveling back and forth from the apartments loses control and ends up in one of the homes near by. This needs to stop and the city needs to take notice and actually do something about it. You can't even rake at the edge of your lawn without fear that someone traveling down the street may lose control and run into you. Please Please Please, do something. The last time I called the police to have them do something about the speeders on cross street they told me they couldn't do anything, but that I could contact the owner of the apartment buildings and see if they will inform their tenants not to speed. Needless to say, I never received a phone call from him. Again, please make the necessary changes to ensure the health and well being of the citizens that reside in this area.
