The speeding and use of handheld devices by drivers on this road has become more and more out of control. Daily we see cars, trucks, even box trucks using Stevens Street as a cut through and people are constantly speeding down this road and texting or looking at a cell phone while driving. From Central Street down to Nevins Rd we are seeing nonstop issues every day with this. Multiple neighbors who live on the road have said the same in passing conversation. There are way too many young children living on this road to let this continue to happen. Can a speed bump be installed or regular monitoring by the police with radar? Methuen Police have full authorization to sit in the secondary driveway (drive on the right side of the building) for 28 Stevens Street in order to monitor traffic if needed. Neighbors fear for the day a child gets hit because of the daily reckless driving on this road.
