Guess you haven't been down Price Street in a while. The stop sign was added 3 years ago and the red light has been there for as long as I can remember (5+ years). They were added to this residential community because people were treating it like an interstate and it was dangerous for pedestrians to cross Price Street. As for the added trash and global warming arguments, as John Stossel would say, "Give me a break."

So, let me see. There are 2 (two) stop signs if I remember correctly, and 1 light. I wish there were more, living in that area. Never seen a traffic delay, and how do stop signs force people to throw trash out their window? Puleez. I suggest you quit the whining . . .

The stop sign at Price and Wayne is unnecessary and should be removed.

@Teco - I live here and find it completely necessary. Do you know how many accidents from people speeding down Price St occurred before the stop sign?

JD - thank you very much for your opinion. My opinion is that is is completely unnessary. Do you know how many stops you have to make on the short section of Price street, just to get out of town? Too many!

@Teco - yes, I know exactly how many stops: 3, in 0.7 miles, I drive it every day. So one stop about every 1/3 mile, perfectly reasonable in a dense community. Drivers for some reason think adding an extra 30 seconds to their ride are a huge problem on the road. I'm sure you also drive the 25 MPH speed limit too.

JD - yes there are 3 stop signs but not sure what type of special math you use to get "one stop sign every 1/3 mile". Three stop signs in a .7 mile stretch would be (.7 div 4) = one stop sign every .175 miles or every 924 feet which is ridiculous for a through-street. Maybe o.k. for a back alley or off-street but not the main street heading west out of West Chester.

JD;....hope your not teaching your kids math because they'll be cleaning the "dense community" streets for a living learning from you. LOL

I agree with JD. Having a stop sign every 1/3 mile on Price street is perfectly reasonable and as such we should remove the stop sign at Price and Wayne, that way, with two stop signs that would be even less than 1/3 mile between stops. Now is everyone happy?

Nice try with the pseudonym JD but the real Opinionator doesn't agree with you. If you eliminate the stop sign and Price and Wayne Street more people will be forced to used New Street to cross Price Street or they will be waiting much longer to cross or enter Price Street resulting in excessive car idling and further contributing to global warming. Plus, people will be forced to pull out of Wayne Street in a dangerous manner resulting in additional accidents, potential loss of life and precious minutes added to your commute as you try to make your way through the accident scene.

PS JD, maybe you should work on your math too. Three stop signs in .7 miles, um wouldn't that be .7/3 = .233 or roughly one every quarter mile.

Umm, @TheOpinionator, if there are 3 stops in .7 miles there is one at mile 0, one at mile .35 and one at mile .7. That is one every 1/3rd mile approximately.

Your comment about accidents is well taken, that is why there is a stop sign.

Your comment about precious minutes to your commute just indicates you need to slow down. Minutes is nothing. Take your time, relax.

OMG there are sooooo many stop signs around the area now. I agree there are too many on Price street. I would keep the traffic light but remove the two stop signs. But I guess its like big government programs; even though they don't make sense, its hard to repeal them.

I live on Price- I have been and will continue to push for more speed control and stop signs on Price. There is no need what so ever to travel faster then 25 on this highly residential street. Please do not assume that because the street is wider then others it's a ticket to use it as your personal highway. Families live and play in the area the same as the rest of wonderful streets win WC. There are no traffic delays due to the stop signs/lights. Yes traffic has slowed and that's a good thing. Nothing can be so important that you should risk the life of others in your pursuit to shave seconds off your drive! If you do not like the driving on price...pick another road, if you do choose to use it- Slow down, stop fully at the current stop signs, and drive like your kids lived there- mine do.

These stop signs need to go. Price street has side walks so I don't see the above post point about families living on Price street. There have always been families living on Price street and what has changed has been the number of stop signs. Families should stay in their yards and use the side walks not the street! If you want to turn every throughway into your own personal family play area I think you're missing the point. Remove the stop signs West Chester!
