Description
Good day , I sent an email to officer Fleming in regards to a speed limit and children at play signage on Golf Avenue. We have had an ongoing speeding vehicles problem, Golf Avenue is a lengthy road we also had a drag race a few weeks ago that had a third car as a lookout. There are many children playing and biking, with school vacation starting soon I don't want to see any accidents that can be avoided. I've lived on Golf Avenue for 37 years, I've never seen it this bad.
Please advise
Thank you for your time and keeping us safe

I see this has issue has been assigned to Traffic services. Yet this problem has been getting worse. I've seen a police marked car parked on the street around 3:30 once or twice and if that is the proper way to resolve this issue it's very lame. I'm very disappointed with the lack of safety for our children in this issue.
I won't stop voicing for more safety of our residents!
With new families that moved into the area with more children this is a huge safety issue. I read from this thread it's being passed along with no changes of safety signage or speeding awareness ! Until this issue is completely resolved I'm not going away !!

There has been no change of speeders on Golf Avenue, I see the police presence parked on the street on different days at 12:00 noon and 3:00 these are not the times of the traffic when people get out of work.
There will be no solution to this ongoing problem which is dangerous to pedestrians and people backing out of their driveways. The city will be held accountable if anyone is harmed because of speeders.
Is there any other way to track or make people aware of what the speed limit is on this street, obviously they think there is no limit !!!!!

I am not closing, this issue nothing has been done to reduce the speeders on Golf Avenue. An occasional police appearance at the wrong time of day isn't the answer. After work and weekends are the worse speeding times. I would like to see the temporary speed tracking signage place on the road.
I am not closing this encounter, until something substantial resolves this ongoing problem.

Good day
I would like to express my appreciation to see a police presence on Golf Ave I can tell you from knowing the cars that went by they did reduce their speed ( probably shocked to see a police car ) the corner when the cruiser was parked is a favorite of passing drugs due to the fact both sides have bushes to block anyone's view that is later in the evening.
I hope a solution can be made to help us on Golf Ave
Thank you MPD and stay safe !

I see a sign of 30 mph has been erected which I think should be less due to the fact of so many children living in the area so maybe put up a few CHILDREN AT PLAY signs for the vehicles that don't go by speed limits.
Thank you for your help

Can I find out why they would put a speed limit sign at 200' from the main road Merrimack Street.
Are we telling drivers to go 30 mph from that point when exiting Golf Avenue, if so that is neurotic !
We still have the same problem and it's not solved !
Therefore I am not closing this issue !!!!

The city needs to justify the 30 mph placed on a heavily residential road that is commonly used as a speedway to get to Merrimack Street. Yes we have "children at play" signs, but cars traveling at 30++ mph don't even slow down when children are playing or riding bikes and that includes people walking.
I've seen 30mph posted within the city on main streets not on a heavily residential road.
Is there any way to track what car speeds are going on this road?
This issue is far from being closed

First I will address speed limit signs. In the state of Massachusetts, thickly settled area speed limits are 30MPH. If there are no speed limits signs, then 30MPH is speed limit.
I have had the traffic unit at different hours of the day and night and there has been no citations issued due to vehicles being within the speed limit.
30 MPH looks like they are going faster than 30 but they are not.
I will be putting up a speed box, No one can tell it is up there, so it won't slow vehicles down but we will have it up for 7 days and it will count the number of vehicles in the 7 days. It will give me the highest and lowest speed along with the average speed of vehicles traveling on the road.
I will advise once the study is done what the conclusion of the study was.
