To clarify, I did NOT write "Thanks for fixing this request!" I don't know whether it has been fixed.
I simply clicked on the "SAY THANKS" button (which I hadn't noticed before) to thank whoever reported it, as it sounds like a genuine problem.
I guess I won't be clicking that button again, since doing so apparently automatically generates a (possibly inaccurate) posted comment!
