Stop telling ppl what to do in their own private yard. Nothing here that’s illegal. People have right to grow corn and have roosters, as long as they are properly caged and not a safety hazard. Rosters sing when it’s time to get up. Mothers Nature Wake Up Alarm.

It is illegal to have a rooster or crowing hens in city limits. A coop and run must be erected to keep the chickens and must be cleaned and disinfected three times a year. A thirty dollar license must be obtained from the city to keep said chickens. Learn the law and hope the party at l surest on street is operating within the law.

What does the building department have to do with illegal roosters in the city do they have the proper permit to keep chickens?

This is a clear sign that each department is trying to avoid spending city funds on this dumb complaint.

If you were being woken up every morning by a rooster at five o’clock! Rules and laws are for everyone! If you don’t agree then take the proper steps to change them! Not to worry though because the mayor gave this to the building department who gave it to animal control who gave it back to the building department who gave it back to animal control… this could go on and the rooster will have passed on.

By city ordinance, Roosters may not be kept in Brockton. Referring this matter to Animal Control was appropriate.

When Animal Control referred it to the Building Department, I asked its Commissioner to look into it. I await a reply.

I am not aware of a city ordinance limiting the plants which may be grown in residential yards.

Jack - I’m not exaggerating, my neighbor has 3-4 rooster in his backyard, in Brockton.thank God, my house is insulated and I only hear them if my windows are open… but it’s amazing the sound of nature. I also have a dog, she barks as well. Every morning I hear a woodpecker ramming my tree. Once again, nature. having the city do run around because you want to make sure the owner has a license for the roosters is ridiculous. You must the miserable neighbor. The code enforcement officer falls under the building department. That is the inspector responsible for the front yard growth. I will abate the rooster and inspect for the chickens. There is nothing illegal about growing corn or other vegetables in your front yard. In a community where people suffer from food insecurity growing vegetables should be applauded.
