My "source" just informed me that this has been properly patched. Thank you so much for dealing with this. It is very gratifying when the system works like this.

Unfortunately, despite patches a year ago this section of pavement has deteriorated and gaps have opened up. It seems like some hot patch would make this safer.

DPW in both Winooski/Burlington are seeking a grant with VTrans to address some of the deteriorated sidewalks and railing on the bridge. Repair of this sidewalk panel is not straight forward and will require engineering and a professional contractor. We appreciate your patience as we work on a solution. Thank you for the response. I fear that the grant process and the engineering will take years. The dangerous situation exists now and my family and many other beloved community members bike around that corner daily. If the DPW cannot patch the large cracks in the sidewalk then you are asking the pedestrians and bikers to assume all of the dangers of unfunded maintenance. The road has been patched in the last several weeks and the sidewalks cracks were temporarily patched last year. If DPW is determined to let this hazardous situation persist then I would encourage a temporary 10mph speed limit on the adjacent roadway to decrease the risk born by pedestrians.
