Description

Deering Pavilion sidewalk intersection safety concern: I was walking down the Forest Avenue sidewalk with my stroller and saw a woman pull out of the Deering Pavilion parking lot around 4:15 pm today in a blue Subaru sedan and crash into a stroller pushed by another dad down the sidewalk in the opposite direction. The stroller was luckily empty but got pushed under the car and the situation could have been tragic.

Recently, I have seen numerous drivers pull wildly out of the Deering Pavilion, narrowly missing pedestrians in wheelchairs, bikes in the Forest Ave bike lane, and children walking down the sidewalk. The parking lot/sidewalk interface needs to be redesigned because cars leaving the parking lot don't seem to realize they are crossing a sidewalk and that they should stop before crossing into the sidewalk.
