Curb extensions would have a similar traffic calming impact and are preferable to speed bumps I think. We are now compiling our priority list for 2024.

I need more info here. Please correct me if i am wrong:

1) The issue is concerning drivers hitting cars and possibly hurting another driver, correct?

2) According to the map above, the stretch of concern is Garfield Ave between Myrtle and Wilkinson.

Let me know if i am missing anything or if I got any of this info wrong.

Thanks Sean, I would say between Caven Point and Wilkinson. Drivers race up and especially down Garfield. Drivers often making illegal right turn from Myrtle onto (busy) Garfield and that's a key area where the speed bump or some kind of traffic "delay/awareness" would be key IMHO. Yes, drivers have had head on collisions, and have ended up crashing into cars parked on westside of Garfield. Cars coming up the hill have also slammed into cars parked on the same side. The last ( I know of) lost control and drove up onto lawn/staircase and finally stopped when he T-boned someones car in the neighbor's driveway.

There are a lot of requests for this same area. I am getting confused!!! I am so sorry i never even acknowledged this, even though i did respond. I might combine this to one of the other ones so that we only need to update in a single place.

@Althea, yes it's a busy street so there are probably a number of folks, up and down Garfield complaining. Is there anything you want us to do that would make it more clear? We are looking for help to make this road safer. Who are we working with you or Sean?

Sean handles only traffic signals that need maintenance as far as SCF and then does a bunch of higher level stuff in the office, but everyone hear is a team. However, I have taken over almost everything so there is a continuity across all issues and that the engineers focus on making the changes and doing the studies while the community doesn't sit there wondering if they are speaking to a wall. Well maybe not a wall... maybe into a black hole, because at least you know a wall is there.

I am getting this all sorted. I just feel horrible that I think I am updating everyone, but I am only updating one SCF item and not all of them.

You all are great and amazing! this is great feedback. And since the entire stretch of Garfield will completely be redone in a few years, I just need to figure out what can be done in the meantime, especially with the southern portion. I am here to take your suggestions and ideas and narrative to the engineers in an easy way for them to understand the big picture, so that when they come to the community with their proposals, it is based on something that came from the community. I hope this makes sense. I really appreciate the patience.
