I completely agree! Cars often do not yield to pedestrians and it is very dangerous.

Hello and happy holidays! I am just following up to see if there has been any progress on this issue. I'm unsure of the exact process and realize that fixing this particular problem could take some time and funding. Please let us know as we continue to have close calls on this crosswalk several times per month. As it gets colder and icier, the chances of a collision become higher. NJ is already one of the most dangerous states for pedestrians.

Happy Holidays. Additional pedestrian crosswalk signs were added to this intersection. Tree trimming and removal also occurred a a location that would improve sight distance for vehicles in the eastbound direction. There are also signs before the intersection that alert vehicles there are crosswalks ahead.

Hi there. Apologies for the late response. I became very ill over the holidays and just started feeling better this week. I was able to walk to the intersection and noticed the signs. I also drove through and found that the signs are useful during broad daylight. However, the issue arises during twilight hours: dusk and dawn. This is when visibility is at its lowest, and usually when traffic through the intersection is highest. It is virtually impossible to see someone crossing this intersection during these hours unless they are wearing flashing lights. Usually, cars just drive right past while pedestrians wait until all cars have passed. A lot of urban planning research shows that street signs are not very effective when it comes to PVCs and DVCs. May I float the idea of a minimum of flashing lights on the signs? Some crosswalks have walk signs and other bells and whistles. I believe at a minimum flashing lights on the signs are necessary for safe crossing. Please let me know your thoughts.

Hi again. I just wanted to follow up to see if this was something that was pending approval, or if there was a decision to not go through with it? Would creating a separate ticket/issue help move things forward? Looking for recommendations on what the plan of action would be on my part. Thank you!
