Description
The location of the trash receptacles makes it convenient for the raccoons and homeless people to rummage through. This inevitably leads to a mess that no one wants to take responsibility for, as well as putting persons at risk due to the close proximity of the raccoons and homeless people. At the very least I'd like to see the mess cleaned up, but best case scenario would be to move the location of the trash receptacles to a more well-lit area closer to the building to potentially discourage further litter from accumulating on the property.

The location of trash receptacles is decided by the Sanitation Dept., please feel free to reach out to them at 641-421-3691. We cannot monitor or control whether or not animals of any kind or humans have access to trash anywhere in town. Our suggestion would be to reach out to a local recycling center to see if they have contact information for a group of individuals who may be willing to volunteer to clean the clutter or garbage up. Again, feel free to reach out to the Sanitation Dept. regarding the location of the receptacles. We also encourage citizens to feel free to pick up litter/garbage on property that is not private if they see it and inconveniences them in any way. We apologize but do not have the time or resources to perform a clean up on site ourselves. Thank you for your time and bringing this to our attention. We hope by reaching out the Sanitation Dept. that the issue and your concern(s) get addressed. The best our Dept. (Code Enforcement) can do is continue to monitor the site and report it to Sanitation should it get to a point where it's out of control.
Thanks again for your time and take care.
