Description
Problem: trip hazards, plastic trash placed by the City up and down Broadway Street.
In 2023, Broadway road was rebuilt, replacing curbs, some sidewalks, and driveway entrances. Much of the lawn extensions were reseeded with grass, with plastic netting and straw.
Now the plastic netting is curling up and creating an unsightly, trashy trip hazard.
The attached photos are just from a small section of Broadway; the problem exists all up and down Broadway, on both sides.
This plastic needs to be removed, and because it is not biodegradable, it should not be used in future projects.

The problem is getting worse as the weather warms and the ground is unfrozen. Also, I now see that a great swath of Cedar Bend Park has been lined with this stuff. I saw a person trip over it and watched a small squirrel get tangled up in it.
It has been 9 days since I submitted this concern. When can I expect a response?

I agree that it is unfortunate that this material was used.
It adds plastic to the environment which is counter to Ann Arbor's environmental aspirations.
As noted above, it is also a potential tripping hazard for humans and death trap for small birds and mammals.
PLEASE HAVE THIS MATERIAL REMOVED AND DISALLOW ITS USE IN THE FUTURE.
Thank you.

Thank you for having the contractor clean it up. Please note that this is a problem not just at the address listed above, but ALL UP AND DOWN BOTH SIDES OF THE STREET, PLUS A LARGE AREA IN CEDAR BEND PARK.
Also, please address the larger issue of not using this plastic netting in any future projects. If A2Fixit is not the proper forum to address this need for policy change, please direct me to the proper person/department.
Thank you!
