I understand that East Princess Street is to be resurfaced after gas and water lines are replaced. Could the serious drainage problem at this intersection be repaired as well? This is not one of those "once in a hundred year" problems. This is 2 or 3 times a month in the spring and summer, and a couple of times in the winter months. I'm not talking a few inches, we get a foot of water out here. The foundation of our house is saturated and the other three that are across from S. Albamarle St.have similar problems. I have video to show this problem. The water laps against the front of our house. My husband lived here as a child and we inherited the house, and decided to live here and fix it up. He said the problem has always been here. We get a river through our carport as well as a flooded basement and back yard. If we grade and fix the problem, it's only going to make it worse for our neighbors. I know we're not the "glamorous" part of town, but we pay the high York city taxes the same as other more affluent areas.This fix has been a long time coming. PLEASE fix it!

Thank you Mike Argento for bringing this problem to the attention of public works. I read the city's response. Not very encouraging. Maybe they should take a look at Kinsley's parking lot as well. That's where most of the water runs off from and into the intersection. The two drains in the intersection are tiny. Surely SOMETHING can be done whether it's by the city or by Kinsley!

The replacement of the water and gas lines in 2012 required Kinsley to lay new sidewalks. In front of our homes here where the drainage is still poor, the sidewalks are crumbling. I know it was a hard winter, however the sidewalks aren't crumbling anywhere else. I suppose the quality of concrete was not very good. It sure did not hold up to all the water!

After the Gas and water lines were replaced in 2012, we still have issues. Now when it rains hard, like it did last week, water and dirt pour into my basement where the water line pipe comes into my house. Also, the side walks that were redone are all crumbling, and it has been only two years! Does the city ever inspect what work has been completed? Is any one ever held accountable? I called the city a few weeks ago about the side walks. Never got a response. Sad for us, isn't it?

What is it about companies working in York in the less fortunate neighborhoods? Why is it when shoddy work is done, it is so hard to have it corrected? It shouldn't happen in the first place!

The standing water at East Princess Street and Sheffield Street has still not been corrected. When the city did the sidewalks after the water and gas lines, they removed the drain there and put a handicap "ramp" there instead. There is NO curb height on this side of Princess Street. There should be. It was ridiculous to remove a drain for a ramp on a flat curb. I understand that handicap ramps need to be marked, but couldn't they have moved the position of the drain to have both? Surely engineers could have came up with a better plan than this. Perhaps one that still included the drain there on the corner? Who approves these plans? Why was the drain taken out? When there is precipitation there is always standing water there. It covers the sidewalk and the street where people park. In cold weather it is ice. How sad that no one cares about us in the average neighborhoods. I bet this wouldn't happen in Wyndham Hills!
