I see that we have recieved several calls about this walk signal. I have asked the Traffic Division to take another look at it and will post what I find out from them.

16 days ago, Cindy said that she would ask the traffic division to take another look at it. This morning the situation was not fixed. The "walk" signal for pedestrians walking south on Euclid at Forest Park did not work. The signal does work for pedestrians walking north at this intersection. Please fix this NOW!

Cindy, of the Citizens Service Bureau, indicated one month ago that she would look into this issue "and will post what I find out from them." I've called twice since then and received similar assurances (it is on the schedule and will be looked at by March 3rd). This week (today is the 18th) the light has STILL not been fixed. Cindy, keep your word. Traffic Folks, get with it!

The longer that this light remains unfixed, the more people will be "trained" to ignore the safety signals. I've seen many people waiting for several cycles for the signals to indicate that it is safe to cross. Do we have to wait until someone is injured for this (simple) problem to be addressed?

Haven't forgotten - Traffic Lighting determined all the mechanics are working fine. I'm waiting to hear back from the engineer that sets the timing/rotation to find out how the pattern is currently set. David - can you tell me if there is a button for pedestrian's to hit in order to get the walk signal? At some intersections, the walk doesn't come up in every cycle, it might only come up if the button is pushed.

There is a button. The problem seems to be that if no one pushes the button on the south east corner, the walk light doesn't come on. There is a button on the northeast corner but it doesn't make the walk light come on.

Thanks, Cindy. I hope the engineer can figure this out. If you are a pedestrian, it only takes 3 minutes to identify the problem (two full cycles). If Traffic Lighting looked at this and determined that the mechanics were working, it is remarkable that they didn't check to see whether the buttons were working . Val suggested a solution that would have been fine in her first post, but apparently no one took heed. This is definitely not rocket science. 36 days and counting...

This morning I waited through two cycles. Still no “walk” light.

The crosswalk signal at Forest Park and Euclid is STILL not functioning! What does it take to fix such a simple problem? Six days ago, an engineer was going to "look at it." Looking won't do it! The simple solution suggested by Val would be fine: make the "walk" signal work on every cycle, just as it does at the next light east on Forest Park Pkwy. Now that FP is not the major east-west route that it was when 40 was closed, there is no reason that cars can't wait a few seconds more to let pedestrians cross safely.
I contacted Alderman Roddy's office about this last week. I hope that they can assist if you can't. Unfortunately, that message has not been answered yet either.

I received word yesterday that everything is working as it should. The button has to be pressed in order to get the walk light.

The "walk" signal was not working correctly this morning (when the button on the NE corner was pressed). You were misinformed or the problem has recurred.

Same today (Thursday AM). The walk signal did not come on when the button on the northeast corner was pressed. I will check in the AM on Friday to see if it is working yet.

I confirmed this AM that the light signal cannot be activated by the button on the NE corner. Please let whomever told you that it was working that it is not.

Still not working... Monday 3/29

I pushed the button on the northeast corner at 7:05 a.m. today and did NOT get a walk light. I don’t think it is fixed.

Not only has my Best Traffic Electrician went to this location but our Head Tech went to the location on Fri.4/2 and it is funtioning properly.

Well, it might be the best traffic electrician but at 7:12 this a.m. I was at the northeast corner going south, pushed the button and waited through the whole cycle. I never got a walk light! If someone pushed the button on the southeast corner then it works but if you are the only person there going south and push the button, you don’t get a walk light. At least not at 7 in the a.m.

Just to update everyone following this issue, the "walk signal" for pedestrians traveling south on Euclid at Forest Park was STILL not working as of yesterday AM. I pushed the "walk" button in the middle of the cycle (before cars traveling East-West on FP were signaled to turn left) and the "walk" signal never came on. Most pedestrians are now completely ignoring the traffic controls, to everyone's danger. I know this issue has been examined by those in charge, but I can guarantee that the problem is not fixed.

The traffic light walk signal was fixed on 4/21. It was working this afternoon, 4/22.
