Thank-you for bringing this to the City’s attention. Information was exchanged today in an in-person meeting. Once the details were understood, the course on how to proceed is being determined. This is not a scheduled repair which then requires the City Engineers to find a funding source. Below is typically what will occur.
1. An Engineer will construct a cost analysis. The analysis will require several steps from obtaining measurements, current material and labor costs.
2. An Engineer will construct plans.
3. Plans will need approved.
4. The plans go out for bid.
5. Low bid contractor is awarded the bid if he/she can meet the City of Topeka standards and is in good standing with the City.
6. Legal documents are signed and sent through the City of Topeka’s document signature process.
7. Once the alley pavement is removed the fiber optics company that has their structure in the alley approach will investigate to determine how they will need to proceed.
8. Once the fiber optics company work is completed then the Contractor awarded the project will proceed with the pavement repair.
There may be short cuts that I am not aware of. For sure items are 1-3, 7-8.
I am changing the project complete date to sometime in July. The date is an estimate only.
