While Homelessness is not illegal, the City addresses homelessness and related social issues City-wide by utilizing a two-tiered philosophy of service: Referral followed by enforcement.

Our Police Department has a Street Outreach Team (PATH) that actively canvasses areas where the activities of the homeless are noticed, and they will continue doing so to ensure the safety of all citizens. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Our Police Assisting The Homeless (PATH) unit has been at this location several times offering services to individuals they come into contact with. On 3/19/2024, PATH responded back out to the St Pete Times Property where they met with Angel who overseas the maintenance of the property and also works for the property manager, Shanie Duvall. Angel was unaware the property was in this condition as he only responds when he is called by Duvall. PATH explained to Angel the issues with the property and showed him all of the areas that need attention. Angel thanked PATH for providing him with the information as Shani Duvall does not often communicate issues with certain properties to him. PATH did advise him that now Code Enforcement was involved and he stated he will take care of this property himself along with his crew and work will began immediately and will be maintained from this point forward. Angel also advised all areas of concern where homeless people are congregating will be secured. Angel did provide PATH with his phone number directly where PATH can have direct communication with him if issues arise. Our Street Outreach and PATH officers are in this area daily and will continue to monitor and offer assistance to anyone they come into contact with as well as enforce local ordinances.
