Deskripsyon

This intersection is a mess on all 4 sides. There are huge holes in front of Irving and, if taking a left onto Western Ave, you are forced to drive through countless potholes. There is no avoiding them.

Rt. 1A is a state road maintained by Maine DOT, you can call them and report a problem, they are located on the Hogan Road in Bangor

Agreed. My motorcycle's rear tire hit one of the holes last summer taking a left from 1A onto Western Ave and the whole back end kicked out to the side, but I did not crash. It was close, though, and I was going pretty slow (slower than most people would corner).

I have called the DOT in Bangor -- and, the BDN even wrote an article on it. Hampden officials contacted DOT too -- they said they'll "look into it". That was over a month ago. If you are heading north on 1A (with Irving on your right) and you have to take a left onto Western Ave, cut it close to the center - get as close to that median as you can - so close that you're almost on the wrong side of the road. That's the ONLY way to avoid those holes!
