Description

It is unbelievably shortsighted for the city to continually postpone resurfacing the Griffin Park tennis courts. The courts are 3-5 years overdue for resurfacing. The city has done ZERO maintenance on the courts, and if not for the pickleball/ tennis communities, the courts would NOT be close to playable. Aside from emptying a garbage once a week and putting up/ taking down nets once a year, there is ZERO thought put into this facility. As a taxpayer in Brooks, I'm disgusted with the lack of foresight the city continues to display. Are we supposed to wait until the courts need to be completely redone from the base, something that will easily double the cost of the initial quote to resurface? Have we not learned that maintenance actually saves residents of the city money? Throughout my life, the city has gone from 7 tennis courts to 1 playable tennis court. In what other city are such facilities so hard to come by? Think about that, how utterly incompetent that makes the city look. Tennis and pickleball are growing nationwide as we continue to drop the ball.
