The streets in this area are unimproved, meaning that they do not have curbs or gutters, and they lack existing drainage, so rain water will run off the road surface and collect in yards and/or driveway approaches. Streets are routinely inspected by city Engineers to look for these issues, but because only so many feet of roadway improvements can be performed in each council district per year, it will take time to plan and coordinate the work. The target is to complete 10 miles in a season. The mileage and cost are split evenly throughout the Council Districts. In the meantime, the Road & Bridge Maintenance division will continue to perform general maintenance, such as filling in potholes, until a better street resurfacing can happen.
