A neighbor called and asked me to look into the seemingly increased speed of vehicle from 185th to 190th on Burke Avenue. IT si posted 25mph but this neighbor feels it is often faster. She asked about speed bumps being put in and I told her likely something that would need to be validated.and discussed with neighbors. We now have many small children on this stretch, so it is becoming worrisome. What can we do or waht can be done?

Shoreline Public Work’s Traffic Section would be happy to work with you and your neighbors in an effort to address your concerns. Residents can participate in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Safety Program specifically developed to address neighborhood traffic and pedestrian safety concerns. Residents can also borrow one of the City’s portable radar speed display carts to help educate drivers on their street and encourage lower speeds. If you are interested in either of these or would like to discuss your concerns in more detail, please contact John Marek, Shoreline Public Works Traffic Engineer at (206) 801-2432.
