There has been a broken water pipe causing water to run down the bottom of Castle Hill, right after coming down the hill and around the sharp turn. The entire lane is covered with ice and slush. It has been this way for over a week.

Good afternoon. I have received a response from the Director of Public Works in Newtown regarding this matter.
The town thought they had taken care of this problem last spring when they put in a small run of under-drain. According to the DPW, this problem has been reported several times as a water main break. A utility contractor verified that it was a ground water problem and not a water main break back in December.
According to the DPW, there is no solution until spring when the town is able to extend the under-drain further up the hill to the original source of the water.
In the meantime, the town will continue to cut the ice with the road grader and will also continue to sand the area to ensure that icing is kept to a minimum.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me at (800) 842-8267 with any further questions or concerns.
Best,

Thanks Chris. Glad you got a response.
Strange however, that this only recently showed up as water flowing down the hill. Possible that it is because the ground surface has frozen.
