There is additional work to be done to obtain proper permits etc. regarding the protected wildlife area (swamp) directly across from the Edgewater entrance. My understanding is that the original plans were for the road to narrow down at the Edgewater entrance and leave the swamp area untouched. But the project was able to shift some funds or perhaps just get permission to proceed with actually acquiring that property needed to keep the road at it's planned width. However that change takes more time to implement, so they are working the areas they can, first.
