Description

The light at the intersection of Old Oak Ridge Road and Muirfield Dr. is creating dangerous traffic back-ups all the way onto Bryan Blvd. during P.M. rush hour. Currently, the light will cycle quickly just to allow 1-3 cars out of the Cardinal development while restraining far more (seems like 50) on Old Oak Ridge Road and at the Bryan Blvd exit. During rush hours, the volume of traffic traveling to the NW corner of Guilford County should not be stopped for a couple (or even one) car turning left from Muirfield as soon the pressure sensor is tripped.

Please install a camera or something so you can monitor the situation if you decline to fix the signal at this intersection immediately.

Recommend placing Muirfield light on time cycle appropriate for volume of traffic passing through the intersection vs. the current pressure sensitive method. OR any other appropriate solution.

Seen this first hand. City DOT needs to get on this asap. Cardinal folks being held hostage by traffic on all sides.
Time to get City Council involved.

It's not just the Cardinal Folks. Anyone that lives on Old Oak Ridge or or trying to get into this NW area of Greensboro has problems. I'm hoping that on/off ramps are part of the plan for the Inman Road bridge as this would GREATLY relieve traffic pressure on the Old Oak Ridge exit.

OMG, the exit from Bryan Blvd onto Old Oak Ridge is a nightmare during the PM rush hour. I have sat through 5 light changes before finally making the turn. This traffic mess is much worse since the Inman Rd closure. It has increased the traffic load on Muirfield as well as backing traffic up in all directions. It is obvious that the people who create this mess do not have to deal with it on a day-to-day basis. There seems to be absolutely no pre planning that goes into these major road "improvements"! Not sure what can be done, but the timing of the lights at the off ramp and Muirfield needs a serious revamping. The gridlock at that intersection is out of control.

Yes this is a night mare,and lord knows how long this is going to last. Since the traffic is so bad the fire department comes speeding through the Cardinal really fast when they have an emergency, i guess they use it as a cut through. Should they be doing that through a neighborhood? It is really dangerous for the people in the neighborhood. If there is someone in the street or backing out of their driveway and get hit by the firetruck will not be able to stop because of their speed. Please help and let us know what we can do about this.

The light at Fleming and Isaacson is still way too long. I sat there last night at a red light, and there was not a car in sight on Isaacson.

Is there a way to keep people from zooming past the line of traffic on the off-ramp from Bryan Blvd to Old Oak Ridge? It's not actually a two-lane off-ramp, but people treat it as such and pass by me so closely it feels like they are going to clip me on a regular basis.

Additionally, the middle lane used as a second right turn lane should be discontinued due to its proximity to the neighborhood light. It creates a greater traffic jam and serves only as an additional traffic risk. Suggest making it straight only, if it can not be eliminated by some barrier, temporary or permanent.

Brad is spot on again. But it is also worth noting that the continued backup is complicated by the failure to have a right turn lane at the intersection of Fleming and Lewiston.

There is ample room to widen without taking additional property at that location.

I'm not sure Fleming and Lewiston are what's affecting this problem. The Old Oak Ridge exit from Bryan Boulevard is an exit up from that area. The Old Oak Ridge exit is a problem every night and has been for months and months, even prior to the work at Fleming.

If your point is that some motorists are avoiding the congestion at Old Oak Ridge and taking Fleming,therefore increasing traffic on Fleming , they would then be connected issues.

Anything that allows cars to move more quickly off Fleming, including a right turn onto Lewsiston at the light would help.

But the majority of Fleming traffic problems, as noted earlier by Brad, are related to the new light and lanes at Isaacson and. Fleming.

Continues to be a problem. 4 lanes feed into one lane. Bryan Blvd east exit onto Oak ridge should discontinue using 2 right turning lanes. Old oak ridge road should discontinue two straight/forward lanes at same intersection.
