There is a stop sign sysyem instead of a set of stoplights at this freeway entrance, which causes a massive pile up every morning. It can increase one's commute by as much as an hour. It's insane and is a huge cost in terms of human capital and productivity, as most of the traffic is HP, Stanford, and other hi-tech employees trying to get to work.
