Looks like NYS has finally passed some legislation to force the banks/lenders who are holding the paper on "@#$%" houses to at least maintain them. Maybe this will give our code office the ability to enforce our code.

This is not and was never a @#$% house. this was a vindictive coup, by the city to punish a person who would not sell a different property they owned to them so they could make a park on north street. He was behind on his taxes at one point and was making the necessary payments, until he fell ill and missed one while in hospital. The city then foreclosed and sent him an eviction notice. nice right? Now we the neighbors have to live with the mess left behind. Not to mention the taxpayers will be paying for the legal fees.

The City is subject to rigorous legal standards that would prohibit the scenario described by the guest commenter above. Acquisition of this property followed the course described in New York State Law. The process has been challenged by the previous owner, which is why we have not been able to invest more effort and resources into property revitalization.

As Mark notes above, we will work to stabilize and secure the property in the coming days, and once legal challenges have been settled, will take the necessary steps to put the property back into productive use.
